HMD constructs a borehole to the Akyem Pameng community

HMD Ghana Ltd (Heavy Machinery Dealership) has built a mechanized borehole for the people of Akyem Pameng in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

 

The completion and handing over of the borehole addresses a long-standing problem that has bedeviled members of this community in terms of accessing safe drinking water.

 

Speaking during the handover event, Mr. Martin Awuku - Administrative Manager at HMD Ghana Ltd, said the company donated the borehole through Xtra Gold Mining Limited, which operates in the district and is  known for various mining activities. "HMD has been supporting the mining community to ensure that those who suffer from the impact of mining activities get access to clean and safe water" he said, adding, "HMD is committed to country specific projects aimed at supporting and facilitating the lives of the people across the region. Every year, CSR projects are carried out with various project types and in various communities."

 

HMD is into the sale and rental of heavy-duty equipment such as Mining Equipment, Construction, warehousing and agricultural machines to the small- and large-scale mining industries, construction and other industries, and also ensures that miners within communities are engaged in proper mining activities as prescribed by law. HMD is dedicated to building Africa’s infrastructure by offering products and services that create genuine value.

 

In her address, Nana Kwakyewaa II, the Queen Mother of Akyem Pameng praised HMD Ghana Ltd for their support and said borehole was a timely intervention since the community is beset with waterborne diseases such as bilharzia, cholera, and diarrhea and call for more efforts to construct a new water facility to meet the needs of the entire rural community.

 

 In his message to the people of Akyem Pameng,  The CEO of HMDs  – Mr.  Matthew Khouri stated that: “Our aim goes beyond simply selling machinery, but actually caring for the well-being of our African community.  It is our hope that this borehole will be the start of having safe water, a pleasant living environment and an opportunity for a brighter future for the youth of tomorrow.”
