Heavy Machinery Dealers (HMD), renovated the ICT Centre of the Methodist B Basic School as part of its efforts to aid in the provision of quality education within the Kpone District and its environs where the company is situated.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the presentation on Wednesday November 17, 2021 at Kpone, Mr. Martin Awuku, the Human Resource Manager of HMD said: “This year’s contribution is part of our annual CSR projects to support schools within our community and provide them with a stable, safe and comfortable learning environment.
The project was financed out of the proceeds of Bobcat Attachment Auction sales organized by HMD”.
Describing the support lended to the school, first, HMD extended the roof level of the building by adding two more blocks creating a more open and airy space. Second, we placed tiles on the floor to protect the surface and set both the look and feel of the room. As for the final touches, we repainted the interior and exterior of the building to bring it all together and help boost the mood and academic performance of the kids.
Mr. Wisdom Kudroha, the Principle of the school spoke about ICT lab’s prior bad condition.
From a severely leaking roof, cracked floor and damaged ceiling to termite infested doors and door frames.
He expressed his bright outlook on science education and its importance for national development and therefore was extremely happy with the renovation.
With profound gratitude, Mr. Kudroha, staff and pupils said: “We highly appreciate this gesture and promise to benefit from the facility which will enable us to use educational software to make teaching and learning more interesting and fun.
Mr. Wisdom added: “This will go a long way to give our students hands-on practical experience and prepare them for the world of work in the competitive technology-driven world.”
A word from HMD’s CEO – Matthew Khouri: “Our aim goes beyond simply selling machinery, but actually caring for the well-being of our African community and its children. We hope this renovation can pave a way for quality education, a pleasant living environment and an opportunity for a brighter future for the youth of tomorrow.”
